Hiking - Walking: Pin Mill Wind Direction: w Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 9 Sea Temperature: Weather: mainly cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After yesterdays lightwind birdwatching session at Levington and not much
wind forecast and rain tomorrow :( I decided it was time to get our walking
boots on again :) Mag backed a picnic lunch - homemade pumpkin soup :) and
we set off stopping at The Strand?Ipswich by the Orwell Bridge for
breakfast and to see what birds were about - this could be an okay spot for
a bit of flat water sailing but needs to be blowing v - strong sw and will
be gusty but worth a try. We then park up at Pin Mill and set off up the
River Orwell through the lovely Plantation Wood and out to the marshes
where the marshes are full of winter waders - loads of avocet, oyster
catchers, dunlins etc :) We make it as far as a sluice opposite Levington
Marina by which time the sun has disappeared behind lots of black cloud and
there is a good westerly breeze. We shelter from the cool wind for soup
before heading back collecting wood for our open fire and seeing lots of
long tailed tits !!! So a nice 5 mile walk in the wonderful Suffolk
countryside before a quick trip to Ipswich looking at a few shops - remind
me never to go shopping again it was awful !!!
